Simplified wake modelling for wind farm load prediction

This paper presents a simple numerical wind farm model, where pragmatic choices are made in the modelling of underlying physical processes, with aim making useful power production and turbine load estimates. The model decomposes farm, inspired by approach dynamic wake meandering (DWM), into sub-models for single deficit (1D Gaussian), (statistical), added turbulence (eddy viscosity based). Particular attention is given to selecting momentum conserving summation method, because its critical role coupling influence individual wakes. Results presented illustrate that methods have on equilibrium velocity row turbines, different inter-turbine spacing inflow velocities. Comparisons against published data from Lillgrund suggested reproduces important trends observed field data.
